How to Avoid Travel Scams in 2026: Flights, Hotels, Tolls and Fake Booking Sites
Protect your trip from fake booking sites, misleading ads, toll-payment texts and suspicious payment requests using current FTC travel-scam guidance.
Dallas travelers have two major commercial airports, but they serve very different trip types. Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is a huge global hub, while Dallas Love Field (DAL) is a smaller airport focused primarily on domestic travel. Choosing correctly can save time before you even start comparing fares.
DFW Airport’s current facts page lists 193 domestic and 78 international nonstop destinations. For Europe, the Middle East, Asia, Canada, Mexico and many other international markets, DFW is usually the Dallas-area airport to check first. See current DFW Airport facts.
Dallas Love Field is much smaller. Its official airline page currently lists Southwest and Delta as passenger airlines. For many domestic trips, DAL can be attractive because of its location and simpler scale, depending on where you live and which airline serves the route. Review airlines at Love Field.
Flight-search tools may display Dallas-area options differently. Check the airport code on every itinerary: DFW means Dallas Fort Worth International Airport; DAL means Dallas Love Field. This matters for parking, rideshare pickup, rental cars and connecting travelers.
Our international route guides are built around DFW because of its nonstop connectivity. See Dallas to Paris, Dallas to Dubai, Dallas to Montreal and Dallas to New York.
DAL can still make sense when the destination is domestic or when a separate domestic flight is part of a larger trip. Be careful with separate tickets, though: if one ticket is delayed and causes you to miss a separately purchased flight, the protection and rebooking options can be very different from a single through-ticket.
The best airport can depend on where your trip begins in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Compare drive time, parking, rideshare cost and public-transport options. Love Field’s official FAQ notes that DART’s Love Link 524 connects the airport with Inwood/Love Field station. See Love Field passenger FAQs.
DFW’s 2026 travel tips recommend arriving at least two hours before a domestic or international flight. Love Field’s published guidance also emphasizes arriving well before departure. Build extra time when checking bags, travelling at peak periods or dealing with complex documentation. Review DFW travel tips.
A smaller airport is not automatically faster for every traveler, and a larger airport is not automatically less convenient. The better airport is the one that gives you the most useful combination of route, schedule, total cost, airline and ground access for the trip you are actually taking.
